Senior Mechanical Designer (Must have a valid Canadian work permit).
Work Arrangement: Fully On-site (No remote option) 
Location: 2302 Rd 125 St Marys ON, N4X 1C9

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of grain and specialty trailers, including chassis, suspension integration, and structural components.
  • Create and review 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings (Onshape) 
  • Translate concepts, sketches, and field requirements into production-ready designs.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards and regulations (transport, safety, load requirements) 
  • Collaborate with production to optimize manufacturability and reduce fabrication costs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers/drafters.
  • Participate in design reviews, prototyping, and testing.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and product standardization.
  • Work on the shop floor as needed to validate designs and resolve production issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience in heavy transportation, trailers, or similar industries.
  • Strong experience with structural design, weldments, and sheet metal fabrication. 
  • Proficiency in CAD (Onshape preferred or similar parametric modeling software) 
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (cutting, forming, welding, machining) 
  • Experience with GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Strong practical understanding of product assembly, including fit, function, and real-world manufacturing constraints.
  • Proficiency in applying tolerancing principles (GD&T) to ensure proper fit and performance.
  • Ability to structure CAD models and drawings to accurately reflect manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of materials, load calculations, and durability considerations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently and as a team member.
Education: 
  • Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering or related field.
